Lisbon's belvederes

The architectural lighting of Lisbon's main belvederes was completed in 2009. Many had been abandoned for years and poorly lit, which had made these wonderful spaces unattractive at night and prone to vandalism.
Located on high hills, most contain a church and ancient monasteries. The new lighting sought to make them visible from a distance, and comfortable and safe places to be in. Today they are some of the main tourist attractions at night, gathering young people and providing some of the best views over the city of Lisbon.
