Statues of the Avenidas Novas

Around the year 2005, the lighting of all statues located on Lisbon's main arteries — Avenida da Liberdade, Restauradores, Praça Duque de Saldanha and Entrecampos — was refurbished. While much of the statuary was not lit at all, other pieces had obsolete equipment.

The main objective was to improve energy efficiency by replacing obsolete luminaires and to light those that were in complete darkness. The new project improved the visibility of these landmarks and resulted in savings of around 40,000 W.
